Insulated piping, pumps and a chiller in a commercial plant room

About us

A small crew that does one thing properly

Aries Insulation, LLC is a commercial insulation contractor. We install pipe and duct insulation — fiberglass, board glass and mechanical insulation — in commercial buildings across Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Washington DC.

Insulation is the last trade in and the first one blamed

By the time we get to a mechanical room, the piping is up, the ductwork is hung and everyone else has moved on. What we leave behind is out of sight for years — until a line starts sweating, a space will not hold temperature, or a plant room is running hot and nobody can work out why.

That is the whole reason a commercial insulation contractor matters. The work is invisible when it is done right, and it is expensive when it is done wrong. We are a small business, and we keep it that way on purpose: the person who walks your job and prices it is the person who stands behind the install.

We take on commercial buildings only — new construction, existing buildings and renovations. Most of our work comes through general contractors and HVAC companies who bring us in as the insulation sub, and from owners and property managers who call us directly when insulation in a building they have to keep running has failed.

How we work

Six things we do not cut corners on

01

Fitted, not wrapped over

Valves, fittings, hangers and transitions get cut and fitted by hand. Wrapping insulation over a fitting is faster and it is also why the insulation fails there first.

02

Sealed at every joint

Every seam is taped or sealed. A joint that is left open is a thermal bridge and a place for condensation to start, and you never see it again once the ceiling goes back up.

03

A continuous vapor barrier

On chilled systems the vapor barrier is the whole point. If it is broken anywhere, moisture gets in, the insulation gets wet, and it stops insulating. We keep it continuous.

04

Jacketing to match the location

ASJ in a normal mechanical room, PVC where the run is exposed or washed down, aluminum outside. The finish is chosen for where the pipe actually is, not for what is cheapest.

05

A clean site, every day

Offcuts and packaging come out with us. On occupied buildings that matters as much as the work itself, because someone has to live in the space while we are in it.

06

Honest about the scope

If the spec will not work in the field, we say so before the bid. If the scope is not something we do, we tell you who does it. We would rather lose a job than install something we cannot stand behind.
